Have you ever walked in the woods in spring and noticed the ferns? They’re coiled, so tight that their new offspring leaves look like tiny fists.
Little hands gripping secrets.
And then, slowly, warmed by the sun they gradually, oh so gradually, unfurl.
The tight little fists of the ferns unfurl into leaves.
Until the creation is complete.
Just as our minds unfurl their ideas into creations and some of us create books!
…and some of us create paintings!
a few ago steve schwartzman published an image of a fern, and sonce that discussion,i’ve been noticing ferns ferns ferns, not unusualy here in the neotropics.. and here you are with another fern theme!

That New Zealand fern is a beauty. In their way the fern family is just as beautiful as flowers. I must keep an eye out for other varieties! 🙂

i’m ‘prepping’ three canvas panels for mid-size paintings, but if they were not ahead of the queue, i’d be doing a study of a fern growing here at my friend’s hostal!

Fern? Ha ha ha, I am starting at a giant hand that seems to say, ‘Stop’ — it’s very similar to the Playamart Hand, based on a preColombian artifact from this area on the coast. Yes, those ferns will be a reward….

I just love the way they start so tight and gradually unfurl. Not sure why I connected them to the developing of ideas!

trust you are well. i have been somewhat absent lately as life in the real world has been quite busy with vacation time and a bit of travel…. but just wanted to stop by and say hello. 🙂

Hey Chris, good to hear from you. I guessed you were busy, and wondered if it was with books. The real world sometimes really gets in the way! As long as you’re enjoying life that’s the main thing. Really pleased that you understood the fern analogy! It’s the way I think but not everyone thinks that way! 🙂
